Flat and well-circumscribed, a solar lentigo is just that: a patch. Depending on the shape, it can be round, oval, or asymmetrical. Variations in hue and size include skin-toned to dark brown or black in hue and diameters of several millimeters to several centimeters. They have the potential to have a thin layer of scaly skin on them.
An area of darkened skin known as solar lentigo is completely harmless. What causes liver spots? It is the result of skin cell melanin accumulation and local melanocyte proliferation caused by UV radiation (keratinocytes). People over the age of 40 are more likely to develop solar lentigos or lentigines. Old age spots or senile freckles may also be referred to as “old age spots” or “senile freckles”.

Cryopen, which is a solar lentigo treatment, is usually very well treated, there’s only minimal discomfort. There may be some blistering and a scab will form.Â
The healing process takes from 1-6 weeks after that you’ll slowly start seeing the results. A follow up visit is recommended after 4 weeks.Â
Every skin type is different so during your consultation our aestheticians will ensure that you receive an honest assessment and recommend a perfect liver spots treatment for you.Â
The results are permanent from Cryopen treatment, however it may take more than one treatment to remove the lesion. A follow up visit is recommended.
